The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick confers a special grace on Christians at the time of serious illness or old age. It is a remedy for supernatural life, and provides spiritual and physical relief, forgiving sins, strengthening against temptations and preparing for the passage to eternal life. Through this sacrament, the entire Church entrusts the sick to the Lord, for his relief and salvation.
