Description
Drawing on numerous testimonies and writings collected throughout his experience, the Camillian priest Arnaldo Pangrazzi approaches suicide not so much from a scientific perspective as from a phenomenological approach, privileging the humanistic and spiritual aspect. Firstly, he addresses the different possible faces and scenarios of suicide, the myths and realities about it, and he addresses the prevention of suicide risk factors and the problem of suicidal behavior. He also focuses on the religious and pastoral implications of suicide, promoting compassion towards those who have made this desperate choice and entrusting them to God's mercy. Finally, he proposes to accompany the grieving family members and friends who remain, through healing processes to help them live with their "whys," not to expect comprehensive answers that do not take away the pain, and to transform the lacerating wound into a greater capacity to love life, with all that it offers.
