Our Father

This volume contains Francis's catecheses on the Lord's Prayer. "Lord, teach us to pray," Jesus' disciples ask him. And he teaches them the most daring prayer. The Lord's Prayer rises to heaven from any place where there is a human being who is hungry, who cries, who struggles, who suffers and wonders why. Jesus does not want to extinguish the human in prayer; he wants all suffering and anxiety to be projected towards heaven and become dialogue. The Father knows what we need even before we ask him for it, but he wants us to communicate it to him. And he wants us not to give up, because our prayer always transforms reality: either it changes things around us, or it changes our hearts. Christian prayer par excellence is also communal; from you it moves to we with no room for the I: we are responsible for each other.
