The Silence of Mary

“Who told the story of her childhood? How did we come to know those news, so far away, whose archive and repository could only be Mary’s memory?”, asks Father Larrañaga at the beginning of this book. To answer these questions, it is necessary to return. And to return, one must go up – against the current – ​​a river that carries dramas and surprises, until reaching that wonderful and remote place that was Mary’s heart. The Gospel reminds us on two occasions that Mary carefully preserved the old words and deeds, and then meditated on them. That is to say, Mary sought the hidden and profound meaning of those deeds and words and compared them with the new situations in which her life was involved. In this way, the memories were kept very vivid in her memory, like stars that never go out. “Therefore, whatever paths we must choose to encounter the figure and heartbeat of Mary, they must necessarily lead us far away, to the source where all news is born: to the intimacy of Mary,” says the author.
