The Passion, in Contemplations on Paper

To contemplate is to pay attention to detail; to soak up what one sees; to let it, in some way, move you, involve you, envelop you. And that is what he tries to do with the gospel. This book delves into the story of the Passion. And in doing so it invites the reader to discover their affinity with characters and situations, to understand Jesus a little better at this culminating moment of his life. In the Passion we find love and fear. The fragility that is capable of assuming its mistakes, and that which does not and remains a prisoner of guilt and remorse. The hardness of heart and deep compassion. Forgiveness, resentment, the selfishness of those who seek their own convenience. The fidelity of those who are not afraid to risk themselves for those they love. Tenderness, which appears again and again in the most unexpected corners. And we find, of course, Jesus. It is he who, in one way or another, reveals to us more about God and about the human being. From surrender and from mystery. From the concrete gestures of his life to the final gesture of embracing the cross.
