Being a Priest Today

Only when his heart is full of hope is the priest capable of singing: "Lord, you are my inheritance," for he has renounced the land, his family and his profession in order to have God as the only foundation on which to support and build his existence. If this affirmation is true, it is not possible to reflect on priestly life without seriously addressing some of the themes that are decisive today, in particular prayer, celibacy, sanctification and preaching. The conviction that inspires the author in this cordial dialogue is that the problems that affect priests have a profound impact on the entire ecclesial fabric in which they are inserted and on the renewal of the communities entrusted to them.
