Description

The communion of saints, an article of the Christian faith, is celebrated twice in the first days of November. On the first day, the great ecclesiastical feast of the solemnity of All Saints, which brings the pilgrim Church on earth into communion with the heavenly Church. And the following day, it is completed by the commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, with the pious memory of those who preceded us with the sign of faith. Throughout the month, there are such endearing figures as Martin de Forres, or Isabel de la Trinidad. Or figures of such depth as the apostle Andrew, and the saints Charles Borromeo, Leo the Great, Millán de la Cogolla, Leander, Martin of Tours, Gertrude, Matilda, Albert the Great, or the blessed Ramon Llull or Duns Scotus. Among the founders, Angela de la Cruz, Maria Rafols, Francisco Palau, Maria de la Pasion, Guido M. Conforti, Juan Claudio Colin... Mary is present with the feast of the Presentation, in the universal calendar, and with the advocations of Our Lady of Divine Providence, and of Almudena, in Puerto Rico and Madrid, as well as the Miraculous Medal, so popular, after the apparitions to Saint Catherine Labouré. The crowning glory of the liturgical year is the feast of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, who one glorious day will come to judge the living and the dead, and makes Christian life a continuous Advent, a liturgical time that usually begins at the end of November.
