Description
The Joaquín Gandarillas Infante Foundation gave a valuable collection of works of art to the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile on loan for its preservation and dissemination, so that it could become a cultural testimony at the service of the national and international community. The collection houses more than 600 pieces from the American colonial period, including religious paintings and carvings, silverware and furniture, a collection that has been exhibited in the University's facilities in a series of exhibitions that is now complemented by the exhibition Journey of Faith: Art and Christianization in the South Andean Region, at the National Museum of Fine Arts. This magnificent book that we present to the artistic and cultural community attempts to collect and fix on the printed page the most significant expressions of the Gandarillas Collection.
