Description
The general structure of the Collection is delimited by specific events that mark changes and open new stages in the dynamics of a Church that has always been present in the history of our country. Thus, the first volume, entitled On the paths of spiritual conquest, is framed from the Spanish settlement in the territory until the vacancy of the Diocese of Santiago with the death of Marán; the second volume, The Church in times of Independence, covers the period prior to independence, until the Holy See recognizes the Independence of Chile; the third volume, The new paths: the Church and the State, shows us the process that will end with the separation of the Church and the State; in the fourth volume, A society in change, the themes of a Church that begins an independent development from the State are addressed until the Archbishop of Santiago, Raúl Silva Henríquez, assumes office; the fifth volume, Conflicts and hopes. Rowing into the deep sea, covers from the 1960s to the declaration of sainthood of Alberto Hurtado Cruchaga.
