Description
Description
This book addresses various topics of religious freedom in Chile today. It analyzes its constitutional framework, Law 19,638 on the legal constitution of churches and religious organizations; issues arising from this law and the recent Law 19,947 on civil marriage. The work ends with a general analysis of the Catholic Church in Chile and the attempts to exclude it from the public sphere to reduce it to the space of private individual conscience. Focusing on legal analysis, the work provides historical and sociological elements, especially in reference to Articles 20 of the Law of Churches and 20 of the Law of Civil Marriage, in whose elaboration and drafting Professor Precht left his mark.
