Description
Translation prepared by the professors of the Faculties of Canon Law of the Pontifical University of Salamanca and the University of Navarre, and revised by the Board of Legal Affairs of the Spanish Episcopal Conference. The Code of Canon Law is absolutely necessary for the Church. Because it is constituted as a social and visible body, it needs norms to make visible its hierarchical and organic structure, to correctly order the exercise of the functions entrusted to it by God, especially sacred power and the administration of the sacraments; to compose, according to justice founded on charity, the mutual relations of the Christian faithful, protecting and defining the rights of each one; finally, to support the common initiatives that are undertaken to live the Christian life more perfectly, to reinforce and promote them by means of canonical laws.
