Description
This fascinating book seeks to find a meeting between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Eastern wisdom, drawing a parallel between evangelical thought and the Taoist and Confucian systems of ancient China. According to the author, the model of the just man proposed by Jesus coincides in a surprising way with the human models suggested by Lao Tse and Confucius. Few people could have taken on this challenge in the extraordinary way that the multifaceted academic and researcher Gastón Soublette does. "Six centuries before the Christian era, in the distant territories of the Chinese empire, men endowed with virtue and wisdom intuited what the presence in the world of a model of a perfect man like Jesus Christ could be like, and they left a written testimony of this. These men were the two greatest sages in the history of China: Lao Tse and Confucius. This fact is what has motivated the title of this book. Although this expression is used in theology with a different sense, that is, the preexistence of the Word of God who was incarnated in Jesus Christ. This is how it is read in the prologue of the Gospel of John and in chapter 1 of the letter of the apostle Paul to the Colossians, verse 17: "He is before all things, and all things subsist in Him."
