Description
Gemma Galgani (1878-1903), despite her early death at the age of 25, is the greatest Italian representative of the cult of the Sacred Heart. Gemma's life gives us a vivid picture of her "spiritual childhood": her guardian angel was her educator; he pampered her and scolded her like an older brother full of tenderness. She was a woman passionate about Jesus: she put her whole being in his hands, and her numerous dialogues show her to be in love and devoted. At the age of 21, she received the grace of the stigmata with a great mission: to die publicly of love. Her spiritual director, a Passionist religious, accompanied her in this death of love. Canonized by Pius XII during the Second World War, she is the first saint of the 20th century. Philippe Plet entered the Passionist congregation in 1992 and was ordained a priest in 1998. A trained biblical scholar and preacher of the Passion of Christ, he accompanies many people on their spiritual journey.
