John XXIII – The Good Pope

When mentioning John XXIII it is impossible not to separate him from his epithet, the "Good Pope", whose pontificate achieved great notoriety for his encyclicals, and especially for the call he made to carry out the Second Vatican Council, which gave a renewed pastoral orientation to the Catholic Church of the twentieth century and shook the heart of all Christianity. His extraordinary kindness and sympathy allowed him to win the friendship and respect of very diverse people, which rightly earned him the epithet "Good Pope". Although he reached the pontificate in old age, he never lacked the spark or the grace that earned him great friendships, even among non-believers. This personal charm was his distinction among the princes of the Church.
