Description
A collection of spiritual advice, reflections and testimonies that allow us to come into contact with the extraordinary, yet joyful and simple, common and natural holiness of Padre Pio. His words will guide us to the discovery of a merciful, tender and compassionate God in whom he believed to the extreme. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (1887-1968) was that kind of mystic in whom fidelity to God did not mitigate his inner freedom, the extreme experience of pain did not diminish humility or extinguish joy, and not even his extraordinary spiritual experiences alienated him from the reality of the men and women of his time. He was an authentic spiritual counselor for teachers, housewives, doctors, workers, as well as for priests and seminarians. The wise advice he gave to his sons and daughters are words of life for all of us, to the point of feeling "adopted" by his paternal wisdom. Before fame limited his apostolate, Padre Pio spiritually directed a great number of people through his letters. These letters reveal not only his deep knowledge of human hearts, but also of the Scriptures. They deal with all kinds of human problems: from concerns about money, health, and relationships, to legal problems; all of these topics are seen as instruments to lead men to God. Obviously, Padre Pio writes because he loves his recipients; but obviously the main motive is their sanctification and growth in union with God through charity.
